Fourth of July Appetizer Ideas
June 26, 2015
When it comes to Fourth of July (or Independence Day) parties, it’s all about the bite-sized treats more than any other food you can offer. The right appetizers can make or break a Fourth of July party, so choosing the best ones beforehand should be at the top of your party-planning to-do list. Check out some great ideas below to make sure you have the best snacks on the block!
Nobody said that the best appetizers had to be complicated. Sometimes a little simplicity goes a long way. When the weather is blazing, it’s a good idea to have some simple snacks for guests to munch on.
Don’t Forget Fruit!
Go beyond the traditional fruit tray by hollowing out a watermelon with a melon baller and using the empty watermelon rind as a serving bowl. Fill with festive options like blueberries, strawberries, watermelon balls and other great seasonal options.
Chop up some crunchy veggies and keep them in the refrigerator until they are ready to serve. Pair bell peppers, carrots, cucumber slices, and broccoli or cauliflower with creamy ranch and bleu cheese dips for the best results.
Make it Meaty
Then, make a simple charcuterie tray with your favorite summer sausages, prosciutto, and assorted cheeses. These bite-size snacks will satisfy hunger pangs until the main course arrives, and will keep party goers cool and refreshed.
Got a sweet tooth? It’s likely that many of your guests do too. Mix up your appetizer selections with some delicious and festive dessert options. For a great patriotic option, slice up some store-bought shortcake and arrange next to bowls of strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream for a homemade shortcake bar! Freshly picked from a local North Carolina farm is even better! Or, make some simple sugar cookies with coordinated red, white, and blue icing. If you have a little bit of extra time on your hands, you can even whip up a traditional North Carolina apple pie -- or store bought will do just fine too!
All of these options can easily be made ahead of time, so you don’t have to spend your entire party in the kitchen. But what if you are looking for something a little more substantial to add to your appetizer table? To save time, let the folks at the Village Deli take care of the cooking so you can relax and enjoy your party with your loved ones. Check out our menu here!
